1. Assessment & Testing

Performance testing forms an integral part of the assessment of any competitive athlete. In order to understand the athletes current conditioning, one needs to assess their current physical and physiological strengths and weaknesses. Establishing a profile for the athlete allows the Sport Scientist to design a training program tailored to the athlete’s specific needs.  

All the training programs therefore start off with an assessment of your current training status. Assessment are done on both your physiological conditioning as well as your biomechanics. From there, a training plan is created which is geared towards reaching your specific goals. Frequent assessments are encouraged to help keep you motivated since you will be able to track your progress and adjust your training accordingly. Testing frequently is also required to investigate the efficacy of your training since the aim is to maximize physiological and muscular adaptations to see results. Further, since athletes respond differently to training in that they either show results slower or faster and have different rates of recovery, testing is also done to ensure that a balance between training stress and recovery is achieved.

A functional threshold power test [FTP] is a maximal cycling test to volitional fatigue. The FTP and the threshold heartrate [LTHR] obtained from the assessment gives an indication of your current base (measured in W/kg) and we use this value for your training zone calculation. The biomechanical assessment will be conducted through our affiliated Biokineticist and a full report and rehabilitation program will be prescribed.

2. Coaching Services

There is an admin fee of R250 for all coaching packages and this includes a meeting with coach Nadine (face-to-face or online) to discuss your specific requirements as an athlete.

We offer 3 coaching packages: 

The serious athlete

R1600 per month

This training option is ideal for the athlete who would like to improve their performance and race with confidence.

 

The training option includes:

  • TrainingPeaks premium account

  • A tailored Periodized training plan

  • Structuring of cross training activities

  • Fortnightly feedback and access to the coach

The slightly obsessed athlete

R2210 per month

This is a long-term commitment to work with the coach to develop your cycling ability, improve your performance and reach your peak potential.

 

The training option includes:

  • TrainingPeaks premium account

  • A tailored Periodized training plan

  • Weekly file analysis and feedback

  • Unlimited access to the coach

  • Structuring of cross training activities

 The duathlete

R1970 per month - The Serious athlete

R2310 per month - The Slightly Obsessed athlete

This training option offers the same service as either the serious athlete’s package or the slightly obsessed athlete package, but the focus is on improving both running and cycling performance.

Structuring of swimming activities is included if needed.

3. Mountain bike skills coaching lessons

We teach you how to get the most out of your bike and the trails with an experienced coach who has competed at an elite level for both XCO and marathon disciplines. Our coaches host cycling academies for school kids, run training camps for some main cycling events and offer both individual and group sessions. Our coaches are certified with the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association in Canada (PMBIA). 

We offer the following skill session options: 

Learn to ride

R600 per person

Men and women ages 8 & up. You will need your own bicycle.

Fundamentals of mountain biking

R600 per person

Learn the ropes on how to mountain bike and get the most out of your riding.

Intermediate skills clinic

R600 per person

Connect the dots with riding, physical fitness, skills development and mental capabilities.
