Meet Nadine Visagie

Athlete. Coach. Researcher.
My work as a coach brings together three parts of my life: competing in endurance sport, helping athletes develop and asking questions about what makes training effective.
As a competitive mountain biker, I raced in XCO and marathon events and experienced the demands of preparing for competition first-hand. Balancing sport with work and raising three children also taught me that a training plan needs to fit the person behind the athlete.
Over more than 20 years, my career has included coaching, athlete development, university lecturing in Human Movement Sciences, and Strength & Conditioning work in high-performance sport. Teaching has shaped the way I coach: I want athletes to understand the purpose of their training and feel comfortable asking questions.
I completed my Master’s degree in Human Movement Sciences (MHSc) with distinction at North-West University. My research examined training load, performance and fatigue monitoring in elite road cyclists. I am now a PhD researcher focusing on endurance training and performance, continuing to explore how athletes respond and adapt to training.
Alongside my academic background, I hold UCI cycling coaching and PMBIA mountain bike instruction qualifications. These experiences connect research with the practical skills and everyday decisions athletes need.
Today, I bring that perspective to cyclists, runners and triathletes at different stages of their journey. I value open communication, individual responses and sustainable progress—and the satisfaction of helping someone achieve a goal that matters to them.
